Skynetglobal WIFI

1 of the many questions that SPUGGER (Singapore Palm User Group members) ask is "Can the TX log in to the free WIFI at McDonalds?"

Yes, of cause it can.

For those who don't know, all Mcdonalds in Singapore have free WIFI access. The name of the WIFI hotspot is call skynetglobal. I'll briefly show everyone how to access the hotspot.

Firstly, connect to the skynetglobal network like what you usually do for normal WIFI hotspot.

Open your blazer web browser and you will see the skynetglobal logo. Click on the logo.
(Note: If you use Xiino to login, it will show an error message "Too many redirection. Please contact site maintainer. Therefore, I suggest using blazer to login, and switch to Xiino after login successful)

You will see a few of this Security error message. Just ignore them and click yes.

Next you will see this page login page. Let the whole page to finish loading before proceeding to fill in your details. Sometimes, there might be problem loading the page. If that happens, just click the refresh button.

After the page finish loading, scroll down and fill in your name and email address.
(As you can see, it doesn't matter if you fill in fake info. So long as your email address "looks" like an email address will do.)

Remember to check the 2 checkbox before clicking on the log in button.

Once you see this screen, it means you are on the world wide web.

Usually, I'll switch to Xiino after finish logging in with blazer. xiino seems like a better browser.

So there you go. Free WIFI in McDonalds with Palm TX.

  • Both Xiino and Blazer browsers are able to see "Flash" pages? Wow! I didn't know that. Maybe it is time for me to upgrade from my Tungsten T to TX?

  • Actually, No. They don't support flash yet. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

    I think maybe the Skynetglobal network is able to detect if you browser support Flash or not. If your browser don't support flash, they will replace the flash ani with a pic.
